It's Great to be Eight
Ogden, Utah Temple
Pure cuteness!!! My nephew Chris is turning eight! As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, turning eight years old is a very big deal. Until then, you attend worship services with your family and participate in other ordinances like the sacrament, but you don't make the covenant of baptism until you reach this age of accountability. He is so excited, which made it even more fun to spend an hour on this beautiful, sunny Sunday with him and my sister Karen to take some pictures to document this milestone in his life. I had so much fun walking and talking with Chris, letting him create his own "poses," (note the cradle hold showing his love for the scriptures), and otherwise just spending one-on-one time with this awesome kid.
He is such a fun, sweet kid and a huge blessing to our family. He was born to my sister during one of the lowest times of her life - dealing with deep depression and thoughts of suicide. I remember the day she found out she was pregnant with Chris was such a huge confirmation of love from God for her: He wanted to bless her! She was worth having her prayers answered! Since his birth, I've noticed such monumental strides in her life. She inspires me to take care of myself, to love myself because I've seen her example in learning how to deal with struggles and to not give up. She is an amazing and wonderful person and I'm really grateful to have her and her husband and three boys in my life!
Thanks, Karen, and congratulations, Chris! You are the cutest!!!
