Welcome to my first “official” session of my photography business.  My friend Shayna is my first paid customer! What I love about Shayna the most is she supports other entrepreneurs and particularly women in business, and she came to me and said “I want you to take our pictures and it’s time you got paid for this.” It’s kind of a crazy leap to go from practicing to professional, and Shayna has encouraged me to just do it. She’s a great friend and I consider her a mentor as she is constantly sharing with me things she learns. She’s a realtor, an amazing organizer, and just overall she’s so on-the-ball with everything she sets her mind to!

And these cute, cute kids! So much fun. Even their dog, Lucky, was so photogenic. I set up a scavenger hunt for them to look for the different photo locations I had planned and at the end of the session I gave them a certificate to go get some ice cream as a family. It was a fun experiment for me to see how I’ll set up future family sessions, and they were absolutely a dream to work with.

DISCLAIMER: The tracks are part of the railroad museum and are not live. (Just in case anyone is wondering if I broke any laws or put kids in danger to take these photos.) Aren’t they just so FUN???

KY & HANNAH

Ky & Hannah, our son and daughter-in-law. I remember when they were first dating, they jokingly said their “couple name” was Kyannah. Would they, will they, name a little girl this name? I guess we won’t know for awhile, since they are having a boy, and his name is … Ryker.
