Winter Mountain Extended Family Session | Ogden, Utah

DeYoung

Introducing … the DeYoung family!

I first met my beautiful friend Hannah (who hired me to take their extended family photos) during an interview for a job with Equity Real Estate. They were restructuring and needed some part-time help in the office so that Hannah could focus on transactions, and Eric, our boss, said ultimately she could make the choice of who to hire, and she hired me. Hannah is the same age as my oldest daughter, she shares a birthday with my beloved grandma, and my daughter-in-law is also named Hannah! All these things are so fun and make our relationship 10 times more awesome and unique. 🙂 We got along from day one and I’ve always loved working with her!

Within a short time after I joined the office, Hannah and Nick were married. They are a fabulous match. They really compliment each other. They both have a great work ethic, sense of humor, and love for other people! They’re just really good people .The actual wedding was in California where Hannah is from, but they held a beautiful open house at Ben Lomond Hotel and that’s where I met Nick’s parents, Brent and Linda, for the first time. She also has a cute brother-in-law approximately the same age and with the same name as my son, Kaden (although he spells it Caden). I love that it’s one more thing we have in common!! I also grew up with four brothers, so when Nick, Parker, Ryan and Caden started messing around and teasing each other during the session, it reminded me so much of growing up with my brothers and how they would always tease my dad, try to out-flex each other, or do something else to make everyone laugh.

Hannah and I worked together for several months and then she and Nick moved, because Nick got accepted to school to become a physician’s assistant. I was so happy that Hannah stayed on part-time working remotely as the Transaction Coordinator, and we had reoccurring “check in” times to  make sure things were running smoothly for the office and to stay caught up on personal things. I found out I was going to be a grandma around the same time Nick and Hannah announced their new baby!  I was also able to attend the baby shower Linda sponsored for Hannah and Kaitlin, her sister-in-law, before their little boys were born. Nick’s aunt hosted the party at her beautiful estate (seriously, one of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever seen and I’m looking forward to going back sometime to take pictures there!)

And that’s how we all fit together!!!

All in all, I was really happy when Hannah asked me to take their family photos. The family was willing to try some fun things, and I especially loved how cute the babies and the snowflakes turned out.  Challenges for this session included constantly changing light and weather conditions (it was cold and snowing not even an hour before the session) and keeping two little babies warm and happy. But this family is awesome and we just worked with everything and had a really great time.

Now on to sharing some of my favorites from this beautiful family session!!

KY & HANNAH

Ky & Hannah, our son and daughter-in-law. I remember when they were first dating, they jokingly said their “couple name” was Kyannah. Would they, will they, name a little girl this name? I guess we won’t know for awhile, since they are having a boy, and his name is … Ryker.
