Sean + Deirdre

As a new wedding photographer, I’ve loved the styled shoots I’ve participated in. It’s a time you can focus more on a certain “look” and feel, and it’s always so fun to meet the bride and groom, who in some cases, may not even be married yet. It’s also a collaborative effort with vendors to showcase everyone’s talents and this really appeals to me, too.

The Bride of this 1950s Wedding Styled Shoot – planned by the wonderful KLayne Styled – grew up watching old movies with her grandmother and was captivated by the nostalgic elegance and romance. While her fiance loves an old fashioned whiskey, she’s a glass-of-wine kind of girl, so having her wedding at a winery was the perfect fit! The scene was set in the rolling hills of Scottsville, Virginia at Mount Ida Farm & Vineyard and incorporated old-world details with a luxurious, updated feel. Spectacular scenic vistas with a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and vibrant vineyards created this dream venue.

The Bride wanted her family and friends to feel the magic of a time gone by. She didn’t want fussy, she wanted fun, and her fiance surprised her with a retro motorbike on the big day!  Their wedding was a nod to the past while celebrating the present, with a toast to the future.

Deirdre and Sean fit these roles so well. A fun-loving, adventurous, and classy couple!

In real life, according to Deirdre, Sean and Deirdre met on a freezing cold January day at the dog park. Deirdre noticed Sean the second he walked in with his dog Bear, and Sean used his dog to start talking to Deirdre. While they were busy talking, a not-so-nice dog ambushed Sia (Deirdre’s dog) from behind and started to draw blood. Sean jumped in to the rescue and calmed both Deirdre and dog down.  Instead of asking for her number on her way out, Sean asked what time they usually come to the dog park and then came every day for the next month waiting to run into her again. When Deirdre finally made it back to the park, Sia was not so happy to be back and Deirdre decided to leave. Just as they were exiting, Sean happened to be making his way in.  Sean, Deirdre and the dogs went on a walk instead and they all four fell in love with each other!

The bike is actually Sean’s and is what he used to pick up Deirdre for their first date!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

ky & kannah

Ky & Hannah, our son and daughter-in-law. I remember when they were first dating, they jokingly said their “couple name” was Kyannah. Would they, will they, name a little girl this name? I guess we won’t know for awhile, since they are having a boy, and his name is … Ryker.
